Our Leadership Point Of View
Our Leadership Point Of View
TRANSLATE AND INTEGRATE TO DRIVE PERFORMANCE
We can’t overstate the criticality of good leadership to the success of a team or organization. In this volatile and complex cultural and business environment, leaders need to be better equipped, more talented, and increasingly mindful. Nothing destroys a team or an individual’s commitment to the team faster than inept leadership; and at a strategic level, nothing destroys an organization’s reputation faster. Poor leadership costs you in talent, time, and money.
PDG focuses on developing and nurturing Extraordinary Leaders. To us, Extraordinary Leaders translate a clear vision and strategy into integrated work streams while facilitating the cultural and environmental conditions necessary for teams and individuals to routinely deliver excellence and be extraordinary.
That’s a lot to ask, but we’re not trying to grow middle-of-the-pack leaders. This means extraordinary leadership is about…
- Driving both business and cultural goals and addressing the accompanying demands
- Truly understanding team and organizational performance such that you enable greatness in others
- Understanding yourself and team dynamics so you get out of the weeds and empower your team through autonomy
- Applying varied and appropriate leadership models, tactics, techniques, and tools for to raise the performance level of everyone – you, your team, and your organization
- Thinking critically and holistically to make and articulate better decisions faster – whether developing your people, closing performance gaps, or anticipating markets and trends
- Showing up for others in your network the way they need you to – advocating for people to thrive for themselves and for the organization
- Being mindful of your own development and growth needs as a leader
Today’s leaders must understand, manage, and apply the right human factors and organizational levers at the right time, for the right reasons, and be demonstrably adept in both soft and hard skills than ever before. The expectations and the complex challenges they face require an evolved leadership mindset and support system – this is why we created the PDG Leadership Practice.
A ‘Practice’ is also collaborative space where Leadership Practitioners focus on solving real work problems and issues, not theoretical discussions about the merits of a single leadership model or learning about a single skill in a classroom setting. If you’re looking for Leadership 101 or a one-size fits all approach, PDG’s Leadership Practice isn’t for you.
With decades of experience working, learning, and coaching in the field of leadership development, we decided to launch our own leadership philosophy that throws out old, failed approaches still being sold to or created for you. You will never develop inspired, cutting-edge leaders through ‘mandatory training programs’ that focus on the completion of ‘courses and classes’ or by pushing a single leadership model or approach from one leadership guru.
We’re more interested in working with extraordinary leadership mindsets who understand leadership growth as a lifelong journey of learning, practice, and adaptation. We help mindful, high-potential leaders get on that path….or move faster and more purposefully if they’re already on it. We help good leaders become great leaders and help great leaders become infectious.
PDG’s Leadership Practice Offerings:
Individual & Team Coaching is about apprenticeship – ‘teaching to fish’ as quickly as possible through learning key performance and leadership principles, applying those principles and methods, and adjusting that application to achieve a desired outcome. We support high-potential leaders get on the path to extraordinary leadership, and we assist mindful leaders to progress faster and more purposefully on a trajectory of high-performance. We help good leaders become great leaders and help great leaders become infectious.
Action-Learning is about developing practical solutions and execution plans to solve actual work and leadership challenges in collaborative learning workshops. And we don’t walk away after the workshop. As a member of PDG’s Leadership Practice, we provide leaders and their teams post-event coaching and mentorship to ensure the desired performance path is headed in the right direction, is on pace, and is yielding appropriate results.
Executive and Leadership Learning Paths and Roadmaps Design is about establishing development journeys that cultivate extraordinary leaders and leadership practices. Extraordinary performance and leadership require hyper-clear alignment and unwavering dedication to holistic outcomes. We know what wastes time, money, and engagement – “fad” leadership models and courses, generic surveys, and frameworks devoid of accountability. Our leadership development approach leverages practices from those on the hook for the extraordinary – US Intelligence Community, DoD task forces, and premium global brands – and translates those practices into leadership-fueled high-performance.
Leadership Program Evaluation is about determining whether your development initiatives are actually moving the needle towards achieving your business and cultural goals. Don’t fall prey to common misconceptions about calculating Return-on-Investment (ROI) – it’s too time consuming, too expensive, too difficult because it’s “soft skills” – nonsense. It’s too expensive to NOT know if the funding is paying dividends. Our hyper-focused performance review and analytic methods, coupled with your data, provide unbiased feedback on the efficacy of your leadership development efforts and impact areas that yield improved return.
Leadership Retreats is about providing necessary and focused time to reflect on, plan for, and/or assess readiness of the team’s ability to reach extraordinary performance. Regardless of whether you need to develop or recast the strategic plan, align or restructure the team, or commit or recommit to the outcomes of value and ways of working, we create an environment conducive to inspiring change, shifting mindsets, and activating engagement within your team.
Our skilled facilitators, performance experts, and event designers help plan, organize, and execute a tailored event with your specific challenges and outcomes in mind. Based in the beautiful Finger Lakes of New York, we partner with local wineries, breweries, restaurants, and accommodations to build your perfect offsite.
